The Kirktonhall Glen runs for approximately 1.5 kilometers and attracts local families and visitors to its many paths and gardens. The entrance archway is next to the Caitlin Garden, which is maintained by West Kilbride Initiative Environmental Group.
Other interesting features are the Hunterston Brooch Garden and the Marsh Garden, which both featured on BBC’s Beechgrove Garden in 2002, these are also maintained by the Environmental Group.
Children love walking through the Glen and spotting the many carved wooden animal sculptures – including a giant dragon carved by artist Sandy Campbell.
The Initiative Centre is a hub of activity and is manned by volunteers from the local community. The centre provides information on local activities and events as well as tourism leaflets. A range of affordable quality craft giftware from local and semi-professional makers leaves you spoiled for choice.
