What Else to See & Do in North Ayrshire

Visiting Ayrshire & Arran, you really are spoilt for choice. Captivating, lush, rugged and serene, quiet and bustling – these words and more are used to describe Ayrshire and the surrounding countryside.

The area is home to a wide range of sporting attractions, including some of the world’s most famous championship links golf courses. The Firth of Clyde has some of the finest sailing waters in the world, nearby Ardrossan Marina is fast developing and the Scottish Sailing Institute is based at the Largs Yacht Haven.

North Ayrshire is, of course, home to Vikingar!, the award winning visitor attraction in Largs that tells the saga of the Vikings in Scotland and how they were finally defeated in 1263 at the Battle of Largs and fled the country. Nearby Kelburn Castle and Country Centre at Fairlie is a magical place, with gardens and the mysterious Secret Forest set round a 16th century tower, the historic home of the Earls of Glasgow.
